Every Photographer’s Wet Dream!!!

Ryker and I where wandering around Japanese sims and came across the most amazing collection of free items. YES FREE! 187 free items! Thats counting some of the store and warehouse builds as one!

Now before you start shrugging me off because we all know that most of the freebie stuff around sucks. Let me post some pictures for you… then you can decide for yourself.

Pictured above – Full outdoor swing set, fountain, hobo desk, telephone, antique camera, hobo shower, hobo beds.

These are just a couple of the arcades. There are actually 23 different arcade games!

Pictured above – miniature ship, fire hydrant, rocking chair, shopping cart, canon, hobo fridge, hobo stove, ant farm, filling cabinet.

Pictured above – ONE of the massive stores you can actually walk into!

Pictured above – trailer, statue, various trash disposal units.

Pictured above – One of the most impressive things! A huge crane and loading truck. Look how small I am!

Pictured above – a full hobo diving suit, gravestones, hobo couch, fire in barrel, british telephone box, hobo bookcase, and the coolest billboard ever!

Well I hope you can see now that all of these items are so worth it! This isn’t even half of them. There are complete sewer builds, some awesome little houses. Its worth your time to go get them and unpack them.

Hope you all enjoy them! Find them here! NOTE!  The TP takes you to the fixed landing point!  Walk to the red arrow… you know the drill.

WOW! Its been a LONG time since I’ve been here!

Hey there everyone :) . It has been a very long time since I’ve posted anything here. I must apologize for that… things have indeed gotten crazy.

In RL I have just finished a semester of school and did okay :P . SL has had its ups and downs lately… but thats not what you are here for… here you want art! So let me tell you all about what’s going on in that area.

So first to my personal art. Well I haven’t done a single SL art piece in… ohhhh… 3 and a half weeks (due to everything going on). That being said… most of you haven’t seen my latest work as I now post mostly on just Flickr. I suggest you all go there and check it out. There are so many great SL artists and most of them display their work there. As to the future of my personal art… starting next week I have 3 and a half weeks of creativity to explode out of me… you have been warned :P .

Second Twilight Gallery. WOW has Twilight grown so much! The gallery is now a massive 2000 prim complex that each month shows 5 different artists. We had our grand reopening last month and have our new exhibit opening this Saturday at 1PM SLT with Alia Whitfield, Amy86 Beck, Gabrielle Sinatra, Lorait Johin, and Lyla Barbosa. Here is the inworld SLURL.

Third, the newest edition to Twilight Photography, Twilight Magazine! The first issue ever or Twilight Magazine comes out this Saturday! The magazine is all about finding interesting art and showing it to the world with an interview with the artists to go along with it. I hope you will all go to this link and sign up for the issue to come to your email. I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am to have this magazine come out. 12 great artists are showing in it: Leila Carroll, Ariel Brearly, Colemarie Soleil, Raina Milev, Looker Lumet, Gabrielle Sinatra, Ghostalker Wise, Sebcaen Ulysses, Hinata Ivory, Sura Abismo, Cannery Rezzable Gallery, Twilight Gallery, and Faith Maxwell Gallery at Aqua Pache.

Now as to the future in general. I’m going to be keeping this blog and hopefully using it a lot more for a variety of things that I want to try. But Magazine related issues will now be on the Twilight Magazine website blog. Also most of my photos will be posting on my flickr.

Thanks for reading folks!

Bel gets crazy… in color!

Soooo… I have to say, my art is finally getting to places I want it to be: interesting, a little bit original, and visually stunning.  These three photos I just did in the past day after I discovered a couple different techniques.  In order to achieve these effects I convert the photo to B&W and then hand paint on all the color using the paintbrush and different layer effects.  Then I mess with the levels and curves, a bit of shadow/highlight, touch of blurring and sharpening, and ta-da!  You have a nice final print.  Enjoy the ladies and gentlemen :) .

The new Plugin at work!

So here is some artistic shots from the previously mentioned Plugin. Basically what it does is duplicate the Darkroom. You can change the type of film used, the developer, the length of development, the paper, filters, and other such things. Basically it gives you a complete and artistic control of levels, glow, contrast, and i’m sure some other things I’m forgetting to mention.

Somethings I’ve been meaning to show…

Here is a set of photos I did for a client for her JCNY contest.

I recently got into the Plugin world.. and found this amazing one that was actually reccomended to me by my mentor Paolo Bade a long time ago… just never actually got round to getting it. It is by far the most amazing tool I’ve come across in photoshop! (besides the paintbrush… but that is in the next post!)

Let the train begin…

Friends,

Well now that the blog has been open for a while and I have gotten quite a few hits (and therefore hope I’ve been RSSed) I want to start rambling in my artistic sense about things in SL. Who knows where my train of thought will go… but today its on the combination of RL and SL artwork.

Now I don’t claim to be an expert in all SL art, nor do I even claim to be an awesome photographer. I still have a long way to go with my art and my learning. But! That being said… I have my opinions.

One of the things I come across quite often in the SL photography world are photos that combine SL and RL photography into one. Now I recently just spoke to my friend about this subject and felt the need to share them with more. There are three things that I find with these photographs…

First! In the SL fine art community there is a strong sense of keeping the RL and SL lines separate. Now this does not mean SL photographs aren’t RL art, this isn’t it at all. What I mean is that SL photography and RL photography are so different, each has its limitations, problems, advantages, and disadvantages. But as Avatrait Gallery states as their goal “bringing SL Photography to RL.” What SL fine artists want to do (myself included) is have SL photography be recognized as an actual art form and not just a hobby. That being said, in order to accomplish this, if RL photos are blended into SL, it ruins the point.

Second! Now I get… personal… I believe that when you use a RL background its a cop out. Meaning the photographer can’t find something good enough inworld to put there so a RL picture is used. Now I say this not to offend anyone. My point is that if you are truly enthusiastic about SL photography use every part of it, there is soooo much material in SL!

Third! Creative Rights. This lately has become a big deal on SL, mostly in the fashion realm, but it relates here too. People get very upset when their art, ideas, and material is stolen and used elsewhere. So using images of the Internet can be looked down upon by certain circles because it seems like the photographer is taking something and putting it in their image and therefore claiming it as their own.

Those are just my thoughts… food for thought… a train of thought…….

Shot for upcoming Gallery Reopening

Here is a shot I had a lot of fun with! I really messed with render glow effects inworld (the glow effects in this photo are all done inworld). It created an intersting photo and I want to continue to explore what renderglow can offer me :) .

JCNY Model Shots

Here are some of the JCNY model shots I am doing for RhiannaLynn Lane… like usual I’m taking the oppurtunity to get creative.

All the shot’s orange glow comes from CW Studios “Summer Glow” one of my favorite inworld lighting effects!

Let me know your thoughts!
Oh and sorry about the smaller sizes… Ive changed the aspects I shoot and upload in for better pixelization.

New Profile Shot

So I needed a new profile shot to match my redone Avi. Here is what I came up with. A simple reflection shot done through windlight with some custom render glowing and minor changes in photoshop.
