For a long time I have had the idea to do a project on Motion. I’m a RL photographer as well so often get… perturbed… shall we say with how “unreal” SL is in terms of photography. Everything is in focus for example and also there is no such thing as shutter speed in SL so you can never get motion blur. So what I have wanted to do is create a project that tries to create motion through different effects then just motion blur. So this is the very very early test. I built a rig that rotates around: the photographer and model going in opposite directions. The way I see it happening in the end is a dancing ball at the top that the model is on that moves a lot of her upper body but not too much of her lower body. I then take between 3-5 shots and photoshop them together. They would be different poses so when i change opacity and fill and make the layers hard light it will create an interesting effect (well thats the plan at least). This is the first test. I did exactly what I just described however its rather overwhelming because its the same pose so a lot of color gets through the three images.
Things to fix: I need to modify the rig so that I am closer to the model: the pics where taken so far away and if I move the camera I loose the effect of rotating around. I might use a stationery camera for this… not sure though. Also I need to find a good dance animation. And need to figure out what to do with background. Also its rough editing it was just thrown together: no smudging or soft effects, also the green screen shows through. Fashion is going to be very important in this: flex prim everything to get many varied effects.
I will post some pictures of the rig soon. When I have it all fixed
.
As always let me know what you think! Thanks!
